The recommendations from the workshop held on 20 November in Athens, Greece, in partnership with the Institute of Social Innovation and E&Y Greece, are now available for download. The recommendations from this workshop provide a brief overview of what the primary focus of the AA1000SES should be; areas where specific guidance is needed; some of the challenges associated with stakeholder engagement, in addition to other standards the AA1000SES needs to be aligned with and how this should be done.
Some of the recommendations in relation to the AA1000SES and gaps in the market the new standard should try to fill was for there to be a link between the methodology and best practices cases. Participants agreed that a methodology should include guidelines, back up support and case studies. There was a high degree of consensus on this point with participants, who particularly emphasized that the standards shouldn’t be overly complicated. Practitioners who do want to use the standards might understand a detailed, step by step approach but might be hard pressed to “sell it” to their management as it will be something too advanced and out of their league.
