The AA1000SES Consultation Workshop was held in Melbourne on 1st December 2009, in partnership with Net Balance.
The 25 attendees to the workshop identified and debated the issues which need to be addressed during the AA1000SES revision process and developed recommendations, for the 2nd edition of the standard and also for the future role of stakeholder engagement. The recommendations from this workshop provide a brief overview of what the primary focus of the AA1000SES should be; areas where specific guidance is needed; in addition to some of the challenges associated with stakeholder engagement.
One of the recommendations from the consultation was for the standard to be principles led rather than rules driven. Recommendations for how the SES can link stakeholder engagement more effectively with strategy and core operation involve ‘facilitating the integration of stakeholder engagement into overall business strategy and providing guidance on measuring the outcomes.’
